Hello, my name is Desiree Coffey. I am a Junior, studying Professional Theater at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. This February, I won the Open Jar Scholarship for the Open Jar Summer Intensive Program in New York City during the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. This program offers selected students one week to train one-on-one with Broadway's best actors, directors, casting directors, agents and performers. Students also get the opportunity to see Broadway shows, attend live talk backs and backstage tours with the cast. However, the scholarship I received only covers a partial amount of my tuition. The total of the trip is $2,325 and I have $600 in scholarship money towards it. I will be leaving for the Intensive Program in August but I have to secure the payment by June 1st in order to still go. I would appreciate any amount of donation that you can give. I am very passionate about the arts and have aspirations to pursue a career in Musical Theater. This program will provide the exposure needed and open up new doors of opportunity for myself.
