One small mistake cost me $1000s

Three & a half years ago I was asked by my manager to sign an account opening form for supply of wholesale goods.
November this year the company I worked for went into liquidation. This left myself & my husband not only out of work but owed over $80000 in wages & entitlements. This itself is heart breaking enough but then on the 20th of December I recieved notification that the food wholesaler, Bidvest Australia had sought a judgement against me personally for over $26000. This is incredible that a national company can hold an employee liable & we want to fight it but can't afford to, even a little bit.
Please help if you can, or share my story Club venture in tatters & hopefully others may learn from my mistake.
