Sometimes you see a face and it pulls right at your heart. Your automatic reaction is to do everything to help. That was the case with Oliver, our newest rescue pup (Northern Illinois Pug Rescue and Adoption).
Oliver was found as a stray in Chicago. His fur was so matted it had cut through his hind leg tendon. When we first saw his picture, his beautiful but scared eyes melted our hearts. We soon found out he was not a pug mix, but in fact a shih tzu. We didn't care. We had to save this baby. We sprung him from the Chicago Animal Control Center right away and took him on his freedom ride out to his new foster mom. Even though he trembled at first, the happiness and gratitude could be seen in his big eyes.
Please meet Oliver, our precious two year old honorary pug man.
He is now on the road to recovery after visiting with the vet. His next step is to see our friends at the University of Illinois Orthopedic Center. The laceration is on the calcaneon tendon and it has to be wrapped/casted in the perfect position to promote healing. The ortho will determine the extent of the damage. We're looking for your donations to help him get the treatment he needs.
While we don't know his full story, we do know that he suffered on the streets. The miraculous part is that even though he's scared, he has warmed right up to the volunteers and his new foster mom. He just wants to be snuggled and have his head rubbed. We're happy to oblige. This little boy has a bright life in front of him now.

All adoption fees and donations go solely for the rescue, care, and placement of mistreated, unwanted or homeless Pugs. We rely entirely on donations and proceeds from our fundraising projects to finance our mission.
