World Youth Day, Krakow 2016!

Donation protected
Greetings!  Our names are Mary, Sarah, Jessica, and Isabel, and we are four young ladies making a pilgrimage to Krakow Poland this summer for World Youth Day, 2016 with Pope Francis!

We are coming from different backgrounds, stories, and places in our faith journey, but we are all making this pilgrimage together.  The money that we gather from this campaign will go directly towards our costs of airfare and travel to get to and around Poland with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  This pilgrimage will offer us the opportunity to see many holy and historical sites including the icon of the Black Madonna at Jasna Gora, the concentration camp of Auschwitz where Sts. Edith Stein and Maximilian Kolbe lost and gave their lives, and Wadowice, the home town of St. John Paul II.

Most importantly, we will have the opportunity to witness to our faith with millions of other young adults and share in a time of prayer and fellowship with our Holy Father Pope Francis.

Our journey will take place July 21st-August 1st, but our payments must be made by April 1st!  This pilgrimage would not be possible without the support of our friends, parishes, and families, and we cannot begin to express our gratitude for your prayers and contributions.  Be assured that we carry each of you in our prayers on this journey and will bring your intentions with us as we visit these holy sites.

Finally, we wanted to tell you just a little bit about ourselves so that you know whose journey you are supporting…

Mary Scott

Hey all! I’m the youth minister here at Our Lady of the Fields in Millersville, and I am so stoked for this adventure. I graduated from Franciscan University in 2013, and during my time there I had the opportunity to study abroad in Austria. My time in Europe opened my eyes to the wealth of beauty and history in our Catholic church’s story that you just cannot capture in pictures or words. The chance to make this pilgrimage to Poland, to pray with Pope Francis, to visit the Catholic hub in Jasna Gora, and to experience the glory of God through our global church community is absolutely incredible and overwhelming in the best sort of way. Thank you in advance for any assistance, prayers, and words of encouragement that you can offer us—we are truly blessed!

Hi! I'm Jessica Brinker. I am really looking forward to this Pilgrimage but I am most looking forward to all the sites we will get to visit and to having a mass with the Pope. I want to take this Pilgrimage because I think it will help me to grow in my faith and it will be a good experience to have before college.

 Sarah Maynard

Sarah is a mother of four: three sons and a daughter ages 8, 6, 4, and 2. She is also an aspiring children’s author currently at work on her first middle grade novel and she would paddle board daily if she could. This August, she and her husband will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. While in school at Virginia Tech, Sarah took two spring break mission trips to Oaxaca, Mexico in 2003 and 2004. A dozen years later, she is excited for the opportunity to take another trip with a religious focus. On this pilgrimage, Sarah is most looking forward to the new experiences brought on by many people from different places in one space and the unique potential World Youth Day provides for the deepening of her faith.

"Hello! My name is Isabel Cordero.

I am truly excited about this pilgrimage . I'm looking forward to having a mass with the Pope , to explore & experience new things, meet new people, go to another country! But most of all, to really reconnect with my faith , learn the history of it , meet people that believe the same as I & grow in my faith & relationship with God . I strongly believe this will be an impactful trip & I am just so excited !
