O'Dell Journey

Their story:

Four years ago, Laura and Calvin O'Dell traveled to Uganda to adopt two sons, brothers Tim and Twama. This fall they returned to Uganda for the boys' first visit. As they made preparations, they were excited and anxious about many things, unaware that they were about to receive news that would permanently change all of their lives.

When they arrived in Uganda, they made their way to the orphanage where their sons had lived. On the way there, it was revealed to them that the boys have a sister! Her name is Shamila and her relationship to the boys had been kept secret all this time.

The children were excited to see one another and grateful to be reunited. Now the O'Dell family is committed to permanently reuniting the siblings. They immediately found an attorney and began the adoption process for Shamila!


Unfortunately, an international adoption with special circumstances such as these is costly and the family has had no time to prepare for this unexpected expense. As we approach the Ugandan summer holiday, any delay in the process could mean Shamila would spend several more months separated from her family and living in the orphanage.

What the funds are for:

All money donated to this campaign will go toward adopting Shamila. This includes agency fees, attorney costs, court costs, adoption expenses, and travel expenses.
