Obstetric Violence Talk in Ottawa

Donation protected

Help send me to Ottawa!

Hi friends, I have been given the opportunity to give a presentation this Tuesday, November 6 in Ottawa to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Dainius Pūras of Lithuania.

I will have several minutes to speak about about my work and research with The Reproductive Justice Story Project (www.reproductivejusticestories.org), focusing on obstetric violence in Ontario.  If he includes this work in his final report on his mission to Canada, it could help put obstetric violence on the map as an issue worth tackling here!

I am asking for some assistance with travel costs as I'm a stay-at-home parent and we're a household living on a modest single income. I have secured free accommodations and childcare with a family friend in Ottawa, but I will need to make my way there from Toronto with my nursing toddler. I am looking at a combination of flights and trains to find the best deal.  (One-way flights starting at about $500, and one-way trains at about $112, plus cab fare )

Money raised will go directly to travel costs. If there is anything left over it will be put towards the project and creation of resources on patient rights and self-advocacy that I am putting together and hoping to distribute across the province in the coming year!

Please contact me with any questions about this campaign or the project. I would be so grateful for your support in any form. Thank you so much!!
