OBJECT TO DEMOLITION TO LA TOUCHE

This fundraiser is to raise funds to hire a planning consultant to compile an objection submission to the proposed demolition of the La Touche Hotel, Greystones. The fee proposeal is as follows;

I have reviewed the application and there are clearly strong arguments to be made to object to the application in the strongest possible terms. Our fee for making an objection on behalf of the group would be €750 plus VAT at 23%. This fee does not include meeting the group but liaising with you, and includes a site visit. The grounds for objection are that the hotel, despite its removal from the RPS is afforded protection under the provisions of the Greystones/Delgany and Kilcoole Local Area Plan 2013 – 2019. Specifically, Objective HER 12 of the Plan which refers to the preservation of the character of Architectural Conservation Area’s and states that proposals involving the demolition of buildings and other structures that contribute to the special interest of ACAs will not be permitted. It is also stated under this objective that the original structure of the La Touche Hotel contributes to the Special Interest of the Greystones Harbour Area ACA.
This would suggest, with also the pastiche design approach of the applicant, which is contrary to the policy Guidelines on Architectual Heritage Protection provides a strong grounds for objection.

The idea is that 1 good objection is better than 50 bad ones. However if 40 people put the e20 fee together we could pay for this submission and ALL put our names on the objection as a collective. (20 people at e50 would also do). It would also demonstrate that the community does not support this destruction. This would set a precedent to permanently ensure the hotel was protected. It would also give us a VERY sure footing to go to An Boar Plennala in the event we is rejected.
