Nourish Faribault's First Event

Nourish Faribault is hosting its first event to bring community members together for an afternoon of food and fun in late May 2017. Our goal is for neighbors and friends to strengthen relationships and build new ones with others in Faribault. Faribault is a small town in Minnesota with a diverse population of people, including new and long-settled refugee and immigrant families, families who have moved to town from other parts of Minnesota or the US, and families who have lived in our town for generations. Our hope is that by increasing opportunities for children to play together outside of school and for adults to get to know each other better, we can further strengthen the connections between families and friends from different neighborhoods, schools, and backgrounds.

Funds will be used to cover costs such as shelter rental at a local park and plates/silverware. In addition, we plan to use the funds to cover the costs associated with meals. Any remaining funding for this May event will be used to help establish our organization and plan additional events in Faribault in the fall and winter of 2017-2018.

There are many families in Faribault eager to get to know each other, and too often, we allow language barriers, our busy schedules, and cultural differences get in the way of the developmental of true friendships. Support with funding this project will help us build opportunities to bring families together, something we feel is important for all citizens of our town and for a healthy, thriving community.
