No-Shave November - Cindy & Family

Donation protected
This year for No-Shave November (Due to to the landslide vote against Movember) I decided to raise money for a 19 year old woman (Cindy) who lost her mom last year and as a result is currently working multiple jobs to support her 3 year old brother and her autistic 21 year old brother.   She is local to some of us (Rockland County) and I think showing support to a "neighbor" is something we can all appreciate.  I’m waiting on some additional information as to what some of her specific needs may be but I’m sure monetary contributions the month before Christmas would go a very long way and be greatly appreciated.

One aspect of this whole thing which is awesome is the fact that this person doesn’t know there is any sort of fundraising being done or donations being collected so in ~30 days this person will receive a check for x amount of dollars out of the blue. From the information given to me (by the same trusted person who suggested raising money for “Susan’s family” a few years back) what this person needs most is encouragement and hope. If we raise 10 dollars or 10,000 I think the fact that a bunch of random strangers showed their compassion, empathy and support to someone they don’t know will go beyond what is quantifiable in donations.

I know there are lots of amazing causes to donate to and sometimes it seems that Facebook feeds are saturated with requests for donations.  As mentioned one aspect of this initiative I want to highlight (in addition to the fact that I still cannot grow a respectable amount of facial hair at the age of 33) is that there are people out there who care.  Simple I know,  but with the seemingly never ending stream of negative news I think we all appreciate the random acts of kindness even more.  Even if you donate a few dollars it will go toward that as I will be highlighting not only the amount of money raised but the number of people and families who took the time to show their support.

I do not plan on running any marathons or starting a bake sale outside of Shoprite so subjecting my face, and those who have to look at me on a regular basis (including clients), is my "sacrifice" for the next month is the only tool I have :)

Feel free to message me if you want some pics of the "beard" or have any tips on facial hair care.
