Dallas Police NW Fitness Center
The Stemmons Corridor Business Association (SCBA) is kicking off a campaign to raise funds for the Northwest Substation of the Dallas Police Department. The funds will be used for the complete renovation of its fitness center, which is in dire need of repair . The center's gym equipment is broken and outdated, making it not only difficult for our police officers to get a proper work-out, but creating potentially dangerous situations and possibilities for injuries. In fact, after touring the center, several officers commented that the workout facilities at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center are nicer than what the officers have to use at Northwest. Think about that. For many of the police at Northwest, the fitness center is a place to release the daily stress of the job. It is a place to maintain and build the strength required in their line of work as well as a place for comraderie. Many of the officers do not have the luxury of an outside gym membership. The fitness center at Northwest is the only way to get a workout and it is sadly not functioning at full potential. If a piece of equipment that is heavily used gets broken, officers often times will pool their own money to try and repair it. Our men and women in blue deserve better. The funds collected in this campaign will outfit the center with brand new industrial gym equipment, new flooring, new paint and a state of the art audio sound system, all of which will boost the morale of our law enforcement personnel who have endured a particularly challenging year.
