Janie Coverdell  EUGENE, OR
I went to Standing Rock for a little over a week in September. I had been following the news of it, but there was so much not being covered i.e. graves being dug up, peaceful protesters being assaulted and going missing etc. What is happening to the land and people in the name of big oil and the almighty dollar is heinous. They need our support. I will be helping with winter sustainability and I will be writing about the news I see and hear about around camp. There will be other ways to help I am sure and I will help however I can, but this will be my main focus. If you care about the environment, the Native Americans right to no longer be  terrorized and human rights all around, than please contribute if possible. Share this and shed a light on injustice. We are not violent as N.D. law enforcement would like you to believe. We can make a difference peacefully. Power to the people ✊

Been working on staying warm and evacuating those with or at risk of hypothermia and frostbite.. a bit ironic because at the same time the woman that loaned my brother a tipi is now expecting her tipi back in the midst of this bitter blizzardy winter. Also shuttled back clean water for camp. Have helped a tipi pole crew as well to bring back poles for winter lodging and help with miscellaneous community tasks on the daily. My brother and I help folks put up and tear down their tipis and offer a place to warm up with warm food and drink as well. The community watches out for one another (aside from the woman demanding her tipi back during a literal blizzard. Thankfully, they see our time and energy spent protecting and empowering the community and have stood together reassuring us that they will in turn help make sure that we will be kept warm and safe as well...it is truly beautiful to see.

The U.S. should never be so comfortable abusing its citizins. Their violent racist tactics against indigineous peoples is long overdue to end.
