Griffins' Transplant Fund
Donation protected
As a lot of you know, my little brother Griffin has had Type I Diabetes since he was 18 months old. He has been selected to participate in a groundbreaking study at the University of Miami to receive an Islet cell transplant. This is wonderful and life changing news for Griffin!
For just a little bit of background...Islet transplantation is the transplantation of isolated islets from a donor pancreas into another person. It is an experimental treatment for type 1 diabetes mellitus. Once transplanted, the islets begin to produce insulin, actively regulating the level of glucose in the blood. So far, there has been a 58% success rate!
Griffin and his lovely wife, Laura have been working very hard saving money for this new chapter in their lives, however, there will continue to be medical and travel expenses for them.
Thanks so much, and every little bit helps!
