Nina's voluntary service in Costa Rica

Starting my last year of high school, I had to think about my possibilities after graduation and in general what I want to achieve in life. Thinking about my future, I realized what was truly important to me. Making a difference in life. In nowadays globalized and connected world, it is more important than ever to set aside prejudice in the world by spending time in a foreign country. Spending time in a foreign country will contribute to cultural exchange and international understanding and is necessary to guarantee a peaceful coexistence. Although, this is not my only goal I am hoping to achieve. 
Living in Germany which is one of the leading economic powers with a high level of education, I think it is our responsibility to help developing countries to gain the same living standards. 
Doing voluntary service in a foreign country will combine my wish in helping others and will also contribute to a better international understanding. At the moment I don’t have a specific project yet, I only know that I will be going to Costa Rica, but my organization ( AFS) is already looking for a project. 
Even though it is a voluntary service, there are a few expenses that have to be covered. Being a student in high school I am not able to pay those expenses myself and I don’t want my parents having to pay for me since I can imagine how hard it has to be to have four children and also running their own business. This is why I am asking everyone who supports my plan, to help achieve my goal of raising my program costs of 2750€  (About $3134) and to make a start for a better living together.
