Storytelling in Nicaragua

Quinnipiac University has provided me with the opportunity to tell the untold stories of the Nicaraguan people; to share with the rest of the world exactly what the country and its people can offer; to give a voice to those who may have never had one; to share another complex angle of the spirit of humanity.

As part of a class called Telling Global Stories, I will be traveling to Nicaragua with a small group of fellow students and journalists, including my favorite professor, who spent years at the New York Post.

There, we will examine the current social, economic and political issues plaguing the country, learn about and experience the cultural and media-driven landscapes of the area and visit the historic city of Léon.  We will spend a week reporting on-site, and after the trip, the class will culminate with the production of a large-scale multimedia storytelling project (think: printed, visual and audible forms of media.)

While I've worked my butt off to balance two part-time jobs throughout the entirety of my college career at QU, I'm asking for your help in reducing some of the out-of-pocket expenses of such a trip.  Even if you've only got $2, it would help offset the costs that are associated with this invaluable educational (and spiritual!) experience.
