My name is Kathy Woodward and I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my daughter, Valerie, her husband Josh and newborn baby girl, Nora Joann.
Valerie is a stay-at-home mother of three now with a 3 year old, 2 year old and their new little blessing Nora Joann. Josh is one of Ft. Worth’s finest, serving with the FWPD for 6 years. On October 21, they welcomed their third child into the world at 5:27 a.m.
Following delivery the baby began to have breathing and swallowing difficulties and was taken to Cook Children’s Hospital. After a week of testing, her team of doctors have discovered that she has several cysts on her brain and have yet to discover what is causing little Nora to be unable to swallow. Anything swallowed drains into her trachea.
Josh has been staying with Valerie in Nora’s hospital room where the hospital is preparing them to learn how to care for her and a feeding tube. They have been trained on infant CPR and continue to learn how to perform the task of suctioning when she chokes and how to get her breathing again. Fortunately, finding the delicate balance in the amount and flow of milk into her feeding tube to prevent these episodes is improving. The doctors are anticipating an additional two weeks in NICU at this time. No doubt, life ahead will require some special solutions and equipment.
Valerie and Josh remain hopeful that God will heal Nora’s swallowing issues so that a permanent feeding tube can be avoided and are trusting God that the cysts on Nora’s brain will not present developmental delays in her future. They are also praying that they remain faithful to whatever God has for them and their sweet family and that they trust Him fully. Your prayers on these specific things will be treasured by them.
Another tangible way we can help is in offsetting the medical out-of-pocket expenses and additional equipment they will require. Whether through your encouraging words, prayers or donations we want to let them know they do not have to experience this challenge alone. All funds will go to assist with medical expenses and helping Valerie and Josh obtain the tools needed to care for Nora and her special circumstances.
