New Swing for Lakeside Park, Rogers City, MI

A couple of weeks ago I saw a really neat swing on Facebook and thought it would be fun for Rogers City area parents and grandparents to have this swing at Lakeside Park in Rogers City.  I know I'd enjoy it!!  So I asked the DPW Superintendent, Roger Wenzel what he thought.  He told me that he found it in one of his books and it's called The Expression Swing.  I did some research and found out that there are seven types of play.  Six of them are pretty self-explanatory: Body play and movement, Object play, Social play, Imaginative play, Narrative play and Creative play.  The seventh on is Attunement play. 
I looked up the expression swing and found a website called playgroundprofessionals.com.  It states that "Traditionally when a parent pushes a child in a swing, they stand behind them with no face-to-face contact or any way to experience the fun the child is having.  The patented face-to-face design features  a bucket seat for children under five and a comfortable adult swing seat that allows a parent and child (or a grandparent and grandchild) to face each other, swing together, interact with each other, and to experience one another's facial expressions while at play."  I was sold!!
Roger took the idea to the Rogers City Parks & Rec Commission meeting held this morning, Wednesday, September 19, 2019.  An Optimist Club member in attendance stated that if the City installed this swing at Lakeside Park, he thought that the club might purchase one for their park at the Little League Fields.  Roger then called me to ask if I would lead the campaign.  So here we are!!  
I think this would be a great addition to the Parks in Rogers City!!  I have used both of these parks and would love to use a swing like this... the best of both worlds.  I don't know about anyone else, but those rubber bottomed swings don't feel as good as they did many years ago.  Lets see if we can make this happen for Rogers City!!!!!
