Helping refugees in Kos

Donation protected
I have a few days annual leave left to take this year, and I have decided to use them by going to Kos to volunteer helping refugees. The refugees currently stuck on Kos need desperate help with clothing, shelter and food, even more than ever now that we are in winter. I go out there in a couple of weeks.

My trip is likely to include preparing food during the day, distributing it in the evening, and then helping to patrol the shoreline at night looking out for new refugee boats coming in.

I’m not interested in sitting in a bath of baked beans, growing a moustache, giving up alcohol for a month, or going on a fun run. I’d rather help with direct action. One thing I can help with, in addition to the work above, is going with enough funds to buy local supplies, be that blankets, tents, food, whatever people need when they land on the shore with absolutely no possessions. When you read about people distributing items, the supplies don’t all just magically appear, many items need to be bought on an as-it-happens basis.

If you want to help me buy basic supplies, then please consider donating a couple of pounds to me. Every penny (or cent) you give will be spent on supplies for refugees, I will personally be making sure of it.

I hate asking for money and I’ve never volunteered for anything before, I’m so far out of my comfort zone I can’t even see my comfort zone when I look back.

If you’ve read this far I hope you understand that your donation will help save the life of someone, in Europe, this month.

Best wishes

Neil
