RE:13 Natalie Back in Zim!
Donation protected
My name is Natalie, and I feel like I'm about to do something monumental...not unusual, but certainly big. For me.
I'm about to embark on a five month volunteering placement working as a Team Leader on a health project in Rusape, Zimbabwe and I'd really appreciate your donations to help me make this happen.
I've made the decision to offer some of the experiences and skills I have been so fortunate to develop over my career with others in our global community.
I'll be working with VSO, an organisation with a great history and reputation in international volunteering. I'll be supporting a group of young people from the UK as we work with an established project and our counterparts in Zimbabwe, developing a programme of education, peer support and outreach activities, raising awareness around sexual and reproductive health issues and meeting challenges in the local community.
My role will be to support my UK team's personal development, provide pastoral care and feed in ideas around the project itself. I can't wait to arrive and fully immerse myself in the culture, community and project that I'll be working with.
I'm stepping out of my comfort zone to ask for your help. Any donations you can make to this campaign will be very gratefully received, whatever the amount. I'll be doing lots of other activities - bake sales, quiz nights, supermarket bag packing, and maybe a bungee jump *gulp* - to help reach my target. This is definitely a collective effort, and with only three weeks to go now, every contribution helps...
I'm inspired to do this by many people, but mainly my Grandmother. She was an adventurer, a pioneer and hugely entrepreneurial and has been a wonderful example to me. Her generosity of spirit is something I could never match, but I would like to contribute towards making improvements to our "global village" as she did.
Thank you for your support, friendship and encouragement as I embark on this massive, life changing challenge.
Really, thank you...
