Developmental Research for Desirae

As most of you know, our daughter Desirae struggles with a neurological dysfunction that we are working on concluding to a diagnosis and supporting her in whatever way we can. Early in Desirae’s life, we noticed she would struggle to accomplish ordinary task that kids her age should have mastered. But this was very confusing to us because in some other areas she was on task and did not struggle. We started working with her to overcome these struggles but with limited knowledge of what we were working with. Between doctors, neurologists, ENT's (surgery), therapy (speech and occupational), supplements, brain integration and countless hours of research, we have not found the underlying issue. All these things have helped tremendously in advancing Desirae’s development and she would Not be where she is without the help she has received. With that said, we still have unanswered questions (examples diagnosis, treatment ect.) and foresee a long road ahead of us in this endeavor/journey. 

Our next step is to get a DNA test which alone is very expensive  and then to have a Neurologist read the results and give us an adequate path to follow (approx $2500). Our goal in doing the next step with a DNA test. This will help us understand how to educate Desirae, to find effective tools to help her on how she learns and grows. This could conclude to more Therapy and Supplements (this cost can be never ending). Now that Desirae is almost 7 years old, we need to have an understanding about what she is dealing with physically and mentally. Our funds right now are drained from her therapy we did recently this summer (approx. $3000). We are doing everything we can to move to this next step and working every avenue of our finances to pay for this. Nothing is covered by our medical insurance. All expenses that we have paid have been out of pocket. With Desirae's birthday (at end of October) and the Holidays approaching, we are stretching ourselves thin and trying to balance our finances and time as a family. Problem is we have no funds as of now to continue our searching to help Desirae.

Although we are on a journey to find a solution, we know that God is almighty and has a specific plan in this situation. We are excited about what God is doing to help Desirae and in turn it will help others. He calls us to be persistent as children of God. We will not give up nor give in to times of trouble because we know that He will bring a great work to fruition. It is only a matter of time and that time is set by God. Our plan is to raise two extremely strong leaders that will pave a path for others to follow.  We believe Desirae will be a beacon for thousands of people to look up to.

Many of you know Desirae, and have been blessed by this child’s heart. For those of you who haven’t, let me tell you a little about her. She really is the sweetest little girl you will ever meet. We know that she knows there is something different about her and that she cannot understand like the other kids, but she has been strong through it all. There are times when she will shy away from groups of kids because there is a certain level of intelligence required that she cannot provide, but that doesn’t always stop her. There are also moments where she will be confident to get on a large stage, take a microphone and not be afraid to say something or sing a song... We are so proud of her! Desirae's main struggles are with her speech and comprehension. She still amazes us with her ambition (sometimes categorized with her strong headed mentality :-). She loves to run, climb on anything, ride her bike, and play with barbies. She absolutely loves animals and is constantly smiling and laughing.

This truly is a humbling process.  We are the kind of people who shy away from asking for help, which is a struggle of our own which we are working on.
Some friends and family of ours encouraged us to start this fund raiser for Desirae, so we are opening up the doors of opportunity for you to be a part of this journey of finding a cure for Desirae. We can assure you that All proceeds will go directly to the research and a cure for whatever Desirae is struggling with.
