A Parent's Final Gift
Roland's son Eric was living in Florida and life wasn't working out for him. Roland brought his son back to New England, got him settled in Massachusetts and worked to try to get him housing and services. As any parent would, he wanted to help his son get on his feet and move on with his life. But unfortunately, Eric was overwhelmed with health and other issues and was not able to cope with life anymore. On November 1st, Roland got the news no parent should ever have to hear. Eric had ended his life.
Roland and his wife Carol are retired and living on social security. He and his wife already struggle to pay their own living expenses. Roland and Carol had to borrow from friends to cover the cost of the funeral and burial plot, which was a staggering $7200. This didn't include the cost of a marker for his son's gravesite which will cost an additional $2000-$2500. They don't have the funds to repay the loans or to purchase the marker. This would be the final gift Roland and Carol want to be able to give their son to honor his memory.
He is hoping that the generosity of others will help him repay the existing loans and purchase a marker for Eric's grave. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
