From ASPSA.org -- Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized (1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats).
Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats.
It is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States; estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million.
With all of that said, Janelle & I adopted Melo about 2 months ago from the Animal Foundation here in Vegas. He has been nothing but a blessing to our lives and has made our family even more whole.
In an attempt to help out the rest of our furry friends still in the shelter I am going to run the Hoover Dam Marathon - December 10, 2016. I am looking for 26 sponsors to donate $100 (covering each mile ran). $1300 will go to Animal Foundation & $1300 will go to the Nevada SPCA.
For every sponsor I will wear your logo on a unfirom specifically made for the race. I look forward to and appreciate your help in providing assistance to the homeless animals of Las Vegas.
