Our mission statement tells what we are all about...
The Mount Vernon School community is dedicated to developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our students become bilingual, multi-skilled, active, and compassionate lifelong learners who are prepared for success in all of their endeavors.
Our working class urban community is striving to create the kinds of educational opportunities that are oftentimes reserved for suburban wealthy schools. Infusing greater access to art, music, technology, field trips, and library resources will help to fulfill our school's mission.
Over the past year staff and families have worked hard to create a foundation to sustain this work. The foundation is seeking support from the business and philanthropists within and outside of our community.
Your donation will be the seed money that gets our foundation off the ground. It will be used to advertise and hold our first foundation gala. Expenses include printing invitations, space rental, and menu creation. Our goal use the $1500 from gofundme to raise $5000 at the gala event while simultaneously creating connections to the business community and patrons. We are starting small, but in the years to come we envision more foundation sponsored events.
