Active Students
· Are healthier
· Attend class and perform better academically
· Are more likely to graduate from high school
· Are more likely to go to college
With iDo26.2, elementary and secondary students complete a marathon distance (26.2 miles) of walking and/or running during the academic school year with recognition at the Human Race in May. For many students it is their primary physical fitness program.
The iDo26.2 Program
Is FREE to all student participants, and to their schools!
Operates in over 50 Elementary schools in Sonoma County.
Saw 3,900 students complete a marathon distance in the 2013-2014 academic year, iDo26.2’s second year of operation.
Expects more than 8,000 to participate in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Has NO paid staff; is entirely volunteer run.
Receives NO district, county or Volunteer Center money.
iDo26.2 survives on donations to support the $4-per-student costs.
What does the $4-per-student pay for? Every 5 miles, students recieve a small, plastic foot token that is proudly displayed on backpacks and shoelaces. Every student who finishes at least one marathon during the school year recieves a t-shirt!
