Afrikan Education Project @ UCLA
Donation protected
The Afrikan Education Project at UCLA is the official community service project of the Afrikan Student Union at UCLA. Our mission is to foster awareness of Afrikan history, culture, and consciousness on the UCLA campus and within the Greater Los Angeles Community. Our aim is to raise self-esteem and encourage K-12 academic success while challenging the false and negative images of Afrikan people. Ultimately, our hope is that these efforts will promote healthy families and social transformation.
The Afrikan Education Project currently visits the housing complex at New Wilmington Arms in Compton on Saturdays for weekly Saturday School. While we love the work that we do as a staff and the families we serve are extremely grateful, it is extremely difficult to find resources for regular attendance. Money is needed for breakfast and lunch for our recipients (which can cost up to $80 a week), vans so that we can transport student volunteers and our staff to do the work (each van is $70 dollars) and materials for our students so that we can effectively teach them.
If you are able, please support us in our work. If you are interested in learning more visit our website .
