Medical Volunteering in Tanzania

Donation protected
As part of my Nursing Degree, I have been given the opportunity to find and overseas medical placement. In February, I will be doing a three week placement in Tanzania. The healthcare system in Tanzania faces a shortage of healthcare workers, low pay, poor working conditions, limited training programmes and faces the increasing burden of HIV/AIDs.
I will be volunteering in a government hospital and community clinics where I will contribute to the care of local people alongside the qualified staff.
Volunteering within a government hospital is a challenge in itself, with limited equipment and poor facilities, the care provided will not be at the standard of our NHS. The country trails behind most other developing countries in terms of healthcare.
Within the community clinics, I will be helping to provide affordable healthcare to some of the poorest people in Tanzania, volunteering alongside the first charity clinic in the area.
The experience will be incredibly challenging but also highly rewarding, making a long lasting impact on the people I hope to help.
Unfortunately, I will be receiving no funding for my medical placement so I will be funding it myself. I would greatly appreciate any donations that you could make, as it won't just be a valuable learning experience for me as I progress in my nursing career, but it will enable me to support the staff and care for local people in Tanzania.
