Help our Aussie Dairy Farmers

Donation protected
DAIRY FARMERS IN AUSTRALIA NEED OUR HELP!

I urge you to contribute to our cause, let's make a difference!

Let us help our Dairy Farmers
It does not matter about global markets and what our Government is going to do about it.  The fact of the matter is, every day, right now, our Dairy Farmers are losing money and going to the wall through circumstances beyond their control.  Government help will take months.  Right now, our Dairy Farmers are unable to make decisions about their businesses,  about retrenching their staff, selling their cows, selling their farms!  They have no idea where they will be in one week's time, let along three months!

What We Need & What You Get
Farmers are telling us that if we can purchase their dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, milk),  it will move the stockpiled dairy products and stimulate the dairy industry and save their businesses.

So come on, for a small donation we can buy up the stock and make a difference.

Is that really all it would take?
All the money donated will be used by a charity to purchase dairy products, which will be distributed to the needy through charities such as OzHarvest in Australia.
You will GIFT TWICE!  Your spending will kickstart the Dairy Industry and help farmers and it will also be used to purchase food for the homeless and needy.

We promise that all profits will go to exactly where the farmers are asking it to go to.

FAQs and Press/Media
Since this will be covered in the media I've been asked a lot of questions. I've tried to answer some more below:

Who are you?
My name is Sharlene Crage.  I am a 53 year old Dairy Farmhand, who recently moved from Sydney to Dingee,  in country Victoria,  to enjoy a country lifestyle and milk cows.  Today, I do not know if I will have a job tomorrow or if a Dairy Farmer in my town would have suicided.

I work for a Dairy Farmer couple, who are the hardest workers I have ever met.  They have 3 children and work night and day, 7 days a week!  I have never known them to have a family holiday together.  Mum and Dad take the children away separately, as one always has to be on the farm to take care of milking.

Is this a joke?
No. Crowdfunding can really help because it's just a case of getting on and doing it.  I  am sick to death of the hardships Dairy Farmers face, when they are the ones providing us with food on our tables.   They have endured drought, water shortages, politics and unrealistic prices as well as unpredictable global commodity prices AND NOW THIS!

I am afraid for their mental health.   While politicians are dithering, this is affecting real people. While all the posturing is going on, it is  easy for the politicians to forget that. I just thought, sod it, I'll have a crack.

Why Dairy Farmers?
This isn't just about the Dairy Farmers, but about the towns and communities, all over our country, who will be affected if the Dairy Farmers go broke. Four towns in my area will die if the Dairy Farmers go broke and stop spending money locally.  If governments or corporations  won't help, what can we do but band together. If we reach our target, what a wonderful message it sends out. It shows that whether you're a Dairy Farmer in Australia,  other people in your country care about you, even if your government has forgotten. You can make a difference.

It shows that so many people care about giving to people when they need it most, not kicking them while they're down. To help an economy recover we need investment and stimulus, not cuts and austerity.

How has the campaign been received?
I've been overwhelmed by the amount of people who are waiting to donate, asking me if this is up and running yet.  It has  been incredibly positive. I’ve received emails and messages of support and thanks. I am starting the campaign as a practical endeavour, $4 from everyone in Austalia, the price of a cup of coffee  - that'll sort it. But it has really struck a chord with so many people emotionally. I feel quite emotional about it all myself now, I've had to have a sit down and a strong cup of coffee!

Are you just making a statement/some kind of point?
This is a real attempt to do something. But at the very least it's important to raise the issue of the plight of the Dairy Farmers at this time.  We can help our Dairy Farmers by purchasing dairy products and distributing these to the homeless and needy.  That's part of the idea behind the crowdfunding page. Trade will help our Dairy Farmers out of their current situation.

Do you think Australians are generous enough?
Australians are the most generous people in the world!  They care about their fellow mates and hate to see injustice and struggle!  It wouldn't cost each person much to just sort it out ourselves. I'm confident the people of Australia will get this campaign and some time soon we'll all be raising a glass of Aussie milk and having a bloody great big celebration.

What will happen to the money?
We promise that all profits will go to purchasing products, which will be distributed to the needy by a reputable charity.

Do you think that you can reach the target?
I hope very much that the campaign will reach the target, I think it will be a victory for people power. Yes it's a tall order but I truly believe it can be effective, remember it's a very small amount per person we're looking for.
