MIDDLETON FAMILY SCHOOL LUNCH DEBT RELIEF

Donation protected
UPDATE-
Just an update to what is going on. Will keep the drive open for a couple more weeks to see if we can add to the total a little bit. Still far short of what I hoped we would raise. When we close it down I will arrange for Barb Bumgardner who administers the school lunch program for the district to accompany me to the bank where I will withdraw everything we received and turn it over directly to her to apply to outstanding family lunch debts as far as it will go. Thank you again to everyone helping with this!

Hello Neighbors! :)
My name is Brad Cook. Many of you know me, or would recognize me from ACE Hardware here in town where I have worked for over 5 1/2 years now. The last 2 of which I have been it's manager. I am starting a local benefit drive I could really use your help with, both financially, and in helping to spread the word.

I am hoping to raise enough money to eliminate (ideally), but at the least substantially reduce,  our local friends and neighbors family school lunch debt. Many of our neighbors live paycheck to paycheck and any number of things can result in extreme hardship to families. From loss of a job, car or house repair emergencies, medical emergencies for family members or pets, death in the family, low paying jobs even though working multiple ones, several children in the household, etc., etc. Most all of us have been there at one time or another in our lives.

The school district will feed children even if they are unable to pay. And this debt accumulates faster than many would believe. If there is one thing I have consistently seen from our small community, it's that they are fantastic at helping each other out in times of need. I am hoping as a community we can once again do that and eliminate the school lunch debt in our small town and do something all these families that represent our friends, relatives and neighbors would so appreciate. Especially as we head into the holiday season.

I checked with Barb Bumgardner who has administered this program for the district for 23 years now. She gave me the breakdown of what the school lunch debt in Middleton is. The High School has $5400 in outstanding school lunch debt. The Middle School has $4700 and the 3 elementary schools combined has a total of $4500. So about $14,500 total. It probably surprises you as much as it did me. That is the need I am attempting to get everyone to help address.

At the moment there are 2 ways you can donate and help. By making a donation here on GoFundMe or in person at Clarity Credit Union. The account is under my name, so if you do it in person you must give them my name (BRAD COOK) for them to pull up the account. And PLEASE..... help spread the word locally anyway you can. Facebook, word of mouth, church, whatever you can do to help. And lets help provide so many of our local families with an unexpected gift this holiday season. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
