Mickey's Kingdom

The Kids Kingdom Team, comprised of community volunteers, is working to create an all-new, community-built playground named Mickey's Kingdom along the riverfront in downtown Evansville. Our goal is to build the largest, coolest, and most accessible playground in the Midwest. Although the playground will be located on city property, the city isn't directly involved with the fundraising. Instead, the all-volunteer team is committed to building an exciting new venue for childhood and family entertainment. That means that 100% of all fundraising dollars go directly toward the playground project. Together, our goal is to build a unique, 20,000-square-foot playground built with green materials (95% post-consumer recycled plastic). The playground will be built by hundreds of volunteers from the community in September, 2018.

Everything from the design to the funding to the construction is done by the community, for the community. Mickey's Kingdom is something we can take pride in as a city. There will be a place for families to come, play, and grow in a safe and exciting environment. It will truly be a commodity and a treasure that shows how Evansville can come together and create something amazing.



Mickey’s Kingdom will incorporate the solar CommuniTree design of Castle High School students who won the University of Evansville’s first Changemaker Challenge. The solar CommuniTree will be installed at the entrance of the new Downtown Evansville Playground and will emit free community WiFi to the surrounding area.






The design for Mickey's Kingdom was submitted by RMHS student and Engineering Club President Sophia Mazzoco. It was unanimously approved.
