Please Help Us Survive This Winter

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read our story. My name is Susan and I met my fiance, Steve, about 5 years ago while living in Indiana on his radio show. After talking for a few  months and getting to know each other, we fell in love and 3 months later, I moved to be with him in New York. In the Fall of 2015, we got quite a surpise. After years of being told that I couldn't conceive a child, Murphy Quin, our little angel, was born Oct. 12th, 2015,  and we couldn't be happier. But our precious little dream turned into a nightmare, starting in March 2015, our landlord, forced us into a rental house with a lower payment, because he wanted to make more money on the house we were renting and at the time we couldn't afford it, so we took the offer. We had to move a 3 bedroom house, in a chevy pick-up, in 4 days, without help and Steve working 50 hours a week and I was pregnant. There was a catch with moving into that house, he was still showing it to sell while we lived in it and I was 4 months pregnant. That only lasted for a few months because he let himself in the front door to this house and I was half dressed, then after Steve called and calmy confronted him about it, (after all, Steve had known him for over 8 years now) the landlord hung up on Steve then had the audacity to evict us. In June 2015, a family friend let a move into the lower portion of a house that they owned, our second move in three months.  In Oct. 2015, Steve's boss, that he'd worked side by side with for the past 20 years, lied and fired him in a text message and not telling him why, (on Steve's birthday and 4 days before Murphy was born, no less.) With help from the family and an idea, we opened an Lawn Irrigation Business, which is what Steve had done for the past 20+ years. The business is seasonal, we applied for our business licenses in February 2016 and by the time we were legal to open the doors, the summer was over. Keeping our prices low and doing right by the customers and due to the short season and the length of time it takes to get a customer base as a start up company, we put ourselves in a bigger hole than when we started. Doing everything we can hasn't stretched enough and when we thought, there's absolutely no possible chance anything could get any worse, we turned to our respective, immediate families for support through this struggling time but they turned their backs on us and have stopped talking with us, unfortunately. And as you read this, you might be asking yourself why. I know, so did we. But this is where are story ends or begins. We need a little help to get us through this winter because the business will thrive and sustain us next year and many to come, we built up the customer base before the season ended, but due to our below average pricing, it was not enough to sustain us. As it stands now, we have negative balances in both our business and personal checking account. We already know we'll need at least 3 months worth of rent, that's $4500. (***UPDATE*** As of Jan. 13th - WE'VE GOTTEN A TURN OFF NOTICE ON OUR ELECTRIC BILL THAT IS NOW $1300. WHICH MEAN THE OTHERS AREN'T FAR BEHIND!!***)Our electric bill is past due a few months and close to $1000. Gas bill is around the same. With unemployment not an option, both of us looking for work to get through the winter, we're asking for a little help and swallowing our pride.

We don't have a Christmas tree, we taped some old garland and lights to the walls, which I guess is perfect since we don't have any presents to put underneath it for our little girl this year, we're just thankful, she hopefully won't remember this Christmas. (***UPDATE: WITH THE DONATION OF A BEAUTIFUL TREE WITH THE TRIMMINGS AND PRESENTS; MURPHY HAD A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER!***)

Thank you so much to everyone that's sharing and donating, every little bit helps to get us through,
Susan, Steve and Murphy Q
