Matt unexpectedly passed away in the early morning of March 25, 2017. Matt was born to Faanoa and Jessy in August of 1983. Words cannot describe how great Matt was so I'm not going to try just know the world lost a good one. Since March 24, 2008 he has been a father. The father to my beautiful daughter, Dasia, and from the moment she was born she was his life. He had her baby handprint tattooed over his heart with the words "Doing Everything for Her" and that's how he lived his life for a long time, for her. In 2015, Matt was blessed with another daughter, Delilah, and then he had two people to live for and he did. They were the most important to him.
Now, Matt's parents now have the unimaginable task of laying to rest their only child. Their son. Their reason for living.
We don't know how much this costs or the process. It's a weekend. Nothing can be accomplished, we just know that it will cost something. He had just started a new job, so he didn't have life insurance.
We were going to do direct cremation, but Dasia insisted that we have a service, that she be able to say goodbye. So that's what were going to do have a service so everyone that loved him, and there's a lot of people that do, can say goodbye. Rest in Paradise, Matt. We love you. We miss you. We always will.

Received an email from GoFundMe they want me to add clarification for the campaign, this is what they sent:
"Transparency is always the best policy, and we ask that you include the following information in your story:
1. Who you are
2. Where you're from
3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for
4. How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)
5. If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf"
These are the answers:
1. I'm Deshai Knight, mother of Dasia Tia, 9, Matthew's first daughter.
2. I'm from San Jose.
3. Relationship identified above. Mother of his first child. Unofficial second child of his parents, they've known me since 1999, over half my life.
4. For his memorial service, see update #6, I believe. It's been scheduled. Celebration of Life (decorations, funeral home expenses, etc.) and the cremation.
5. The money will be spent on the things above, #4.
