Mass Liberation Project

The Mass Liberation Project is organizing in Prince George's County to structurally transform the criminal justice system. We strive for Black Liberation, and for building governing power to alter the priorities of our county governments. Our people suffer at the hands of structures that produce oppression and are driven by a national ideology and culture of white/supremacy/anti-blackness and by neoliberal economics. We organize people who are directly impacted, their families and institutions in the community needed to change the leadership and priorities of local prosecutors, judges, law enforcement and other officials that govern the system. Our main priorities are court watching, participatory defense and Mother's Day bail out.   This year we bailed out 6 mothers from Upper Marlboro jail for Mother's day. It is our hope to raise enough money to start a Prince George's County Community bail fund. We want to build a sustainable fellowship program for the people who we bail out so that we can teach them a new skill and employ them.  The project is also a part of People’s Action, Progressive Maryland,  and Life After Release.
