Maria (Fucci) Ormsby Medical Bills
Hi, my name is Lisa-Fucci Smith and I am starting this page for my Aunt Maria (Fucci) Ormsby who has been recently diagnosed with advanced Stage 3B squamous cell carcinoma of the uterus and cervix. She was admitted to the hospital 1-1/2 months ago in kidney failure, and while admitted they found the advanced cancer, which ultimately caused her kidneys to go into failure. The kidneys were not draining properly due to a tumor which is pressing on her ureter, so they placed 2 nephrostomy bags to help drain the urine. The hope is once they can shrink the tumor, she can have these bags removed; but they could end up being permanent. She is now home, but in search of an oncologist who takes her insurance so that they can get her treatment underway.
My aunt has had a very difficult life, single mother from her early 20's , mother of 2 girls (cousin's Tina and Bernadette), and she will have an absolute fit when she finds out we did this (Aunt Mimi's idea) ahem. She became ill when she was 14 due to Crohn's disease and has lived with an ileostomy bag since she was 30, never complaining and always on the go providing for her family. She is a very independent woman, too proud to EVER ask for help, and again, why she is going to be so MAD at me for doing this.
She is 69 years old, turning 70 in February, and she is still working; however, she has not been able to work since she became ill. She is not one to sit idle, so being home not able to go to work I'm sure is driving her nuts, but unfortunately the bills are still rolling in.
My aunt is one of the strongest women I know, and one of my best friends since my late teens early 20s (more like a sister). She lives in NJ so it is very hard for me to be able to help her like I would like to. She is very worried about her bills piling up, and they are only going to get worse once she starts her treatment.
The money we raise will help with her medical bills, household bills, grocery, heat, etc. and put her mind a little at ease while she is fighting this horrible disease.
