Talented Footballer Shot Dead

This grieving family desperately needs our help to counteract their pain  with a story of positiveness and a brighter future, be part of making a new day for them.

I am  raising money for the wife and baby of late Kelvin Tinashe Choto’s (nicknamed YAYA) aged 22. In January of this year Zimbabweans took to the streets to protest against harsh economic conditions and unfair treatment. The government responded heavily with the army and riot police being deployed. Kelvin Choto lived with his family in Chitungwiza an area outside the capital, he was shot in the head while watching from a short distance. Being a Paul Pogba supporter, he was wearing a Manchester United jersey and  it is suspected that this is one reason why he was targeted as the opposition attire is red.

Kelvin played “defender right wing” and was captain of Chitungwiza FC, he had planned to travel to neighbouring South Africa that same week where he was to attend trails for a low division club. This would have allowed him to better provide for his family and put him a step closer to realising his dream of playing professional football in the European League.

Wife Varaidzo is in destress and trying to come to terms with what happened and is now burdened with how to raise their 7 months old baby Janelle. She misses her husband a lot and has nightmares daily.

His father Julius Choto described his son as one who loved football so much he declined two offers to join the military.

Help Varaidzo not let Kelvin Choto become another statistic. We may not have an army on our side, but we have our voices and social media platforms like go fund me. We want to raise £10000 for Varaidzo and baby Janelle. This will help them buy a house, pay for Varaidzo further education, cloth and feed baby Janelle, pay for mental rehabilitation, help Varaidzo start a business  that will generate the income needed give her baby the future her husband worked so hard for.
