 LEONARD, MI
The Leonard Elevator/Mill  was built in 1900 and was the center of agricultural activity in the Village of Leonard until 2005, when it suffered a catastrophic roof collapse.  The residents rallied and the Village bought the property and began cleaning it up in an attempt to save and preserve it.  Now we have put a new roof on it, so we are moving on to repair the foundation and replace the tongue and groove siding which has made it a landmark along the Polly Ann Trail in Oakland County, Michigan.
Public support is the only way we can accomplish this preservation goal, and the donated funds will be strictly used for material and grant matching funds.
Once completed, it will be open for the public to see and go inside and glimpse back to the days when agriculture was central to life regardless of where you lived and worked.

HI ! The Leonard Mill has received two grants that amount to $15,000 dollars. One donation is from the ITC Holdings Corporation for $5,000 dollars and the other is from the Cooper Standard Foundation for $15,000 dollars. We are raising money to restore the foundation of the Mill to historical standards and once complete, can begin the actual restoration of the exterior!
What a great day that will be !
Thank you for any amount you care to donate!

Your support has meant that the Leonard Mill has a new roof and the debris and structurally unsound members have been removed. Now we begin work on the foundation, which has several areas that need replacement to insure the structural integrity of the building. Thanks for your continued support!

I love the idea of making this historic building a beautiful "centerpiece" to the village of Leonard. I am concerned about the upgrades to our village that already exists BEFORE anything is done to this mill however. Our village is in DIRE need of what is USED to be. The center of town looks like a disaster, and need attention FIRST. How can this be taken done without other issues with abandoned buildings being in such DISREPAIR, and making what used to be such a quaint village? Why would we want the draw to attention to the mill, when you have to drive through the four corners with a "used" car lot on one corner, and a row of abandoned businesses on the other when Leonard Market has done such a beautiful job refurbishing their building and the efforts Sam has done to make our village a proud place to live??? I don't get it. Put forth efforts to push those that "own" the disheveled buildings that are already here to do something about their responsibilities to keep our community the way we deserve to have them, well kept and thriving. Why attract people here to see what could be a crown jewel (the mill) once it is done, only to drive through what looks like a dump with the decrepit buildings, and propertied surrounding town with piles of mounded garbage just as you drive in (the abandoned yellow house 2 doors down from Distinctive Designs)??? Something has to be done about those issues first, and not later.
