Bring Carlos Home

This is a fundraiser for my husband and our dear friend, Carlos Aceves. Many of you already know our story, some of you who read this may not. A little less than one year ago, my husband voluntarily returned to Mexico, where he was born and raised, to attend an immigration appointment in Juarez. We were seeking his permanent residency. When he went we were told that we had filed the wrong petition and that he would need to stay in Mexico while we filed the correct paperwork to get his green card.

   The good news is that after nearly a year, we are excited to announce that Carlos is almost done with the process and is finally coming home! We are working on getting some paperwork completed before an October 22nd deadline so that he can be home in about a months time. We were nervous that the process would drag out for several more months at a minimum, but it seems that the Universe knew it was time for Carlos to come home.
 
   There have been so many acts of support and kindness by countless friends and family during this difficult time, but we need to ask once more for our wonderful community to step in and help to get Carlos home. Carlos will need to travel to Mexico City from Taxco, Guerrero to complete paperwork, and then fly to Juarez in Northern Mexico to complete a physical exam. Then he will need to return back to Mexico City to await the finalized paperwork and processing of his green card. We need to come up with funds for that travel within Mexico as well as his airfare home. We appreciate any little bit you’re able to donate to us, and we hope to return the favor by having Carlos create some digital art to share after he gets home. If you are in the Grand Rapids area, we hope that you will be able to see him in the next 3-4 weeks! Just think, he’ll be home in time for the Tanglefoot Sale if all goes well!
