Lufubu Farm Cooperative

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Brother Robert Malusa. I am originally from Locust Valley, NY but now I am a Salesian of Don Bosco in Lufubu, Zambia. We run a mission with an agricultral school, working farm & youth program. Lufubu is a small comunity that counts on small farming and fishing for food. We are starting a farm coperative to assist the comunity to grow it's most vital food staple: corn. We are seeking money to buy seed, fertilizer and fuel to start a self-sustaining food cooperative. The cooperative will be in conjunction with local farmers, as well as our mission. The farm co-op will assist the comunity with food security while supporting the school and youth programs.
All donations are made through Salesian Missions, a 501(c)3 tax deductable charity:

The mission doesn't end with this farm communitive; there are several other projects that could be assisted with this money:
1.  Water pipes.
There is a year round stream 200 meters away.  We would like to get that water here to our farm for ourselves, the students and those in our area.  We have a pump, but need the 4 inch piping.
2.  Basketball court for the youth in the area.  With all the rain, soil just gets washed out continually.
3.  Repairs for the generator, welder and water pump
4.  Egg-laying chickens.
5.  Dairy cows.
6.  Start a small computer lab.  Part of the agriculture course that is mandated to teach the students using basic Microsoft office software.

I want to share some information on who and what Salesians are...

WHO WE ARE
We are more than 30,000 Priests, Brothers, Sisters and novices serving in the spirit of our founder, Don Bosco, an Italian Catholic priest who devoted his life to fulfilling the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. Since our beginnings in 1859, the Salesians of Don Bosco has become the second largest order in the Catholic Church.

WHAT WE DO
We enable poor and suffering children to live better lives and build brighter futures. We operate more than 3,200 schools and technical training centers; more than 70 colleges; more than 90 clinics and hospitals; more than 330 orphanages and shelters; and a wide variety of social and economic development activities. We are regarded as the single largest provider of vocational and technical training in the world. And when disaster strikes, we are among the first on the scene with relief supplies, temporary housing and medical care.

WHERE WE WORK
We have an active presence in more than 130 countries spanning five continents. Our work takes us to some of the most impoverished and dangerous locations on the planet. We serve in big cities with thousands of homeless and runaway children. And we reach out to remote corners of the globe that have been forgotten and neglected by the rest of society. Quite simply, we work where we're needed most.
