Lucy's volunteer trip to Fiji

Hi everyone, my name is Lucy Jackson and I am studying Marine Biology at Aberdeen University. I am planning on going to Nadi in Fiji next summer from the 22nd of July to the 8th of August. During this trip i will be helping the locals restore the school buildings, whilst teaching the pupils the English language. I will also help to build rainwater catchment tanks, so that they can access clean, fresh water. Workshops will also be taking place, in order to teach the locals about basic hygiene. I also intend to help out at a turtle sanctuary in my last week, to increase the population of sea turtles and help restore the reef to its natural state. Working with turtles is always something I have longed to do, as they are my favourite animal. 
In order to fundraise for this trip I have decided to paddleboard a section of (the longest river in Scotland),  the river Tay from Kenmore to Tayport, which is roughly 70 miles. I intend to do this over 3 days, dates are yet to be confirmed, but should be early spring, when the water is a bit warmer!  The reason why I have decided to do this is becuase Paddleboarding is one of my favourite watersports, and this would be a real challenge. 
The money I hope to fundraise will be used to pay for this trip and to work at the turtle sanctuary. I will also have to pay for the flights and jabs separately. I would be so grateful if you could help me make this trip possible. I am so excited to visit Fiji, and help people who are not as fortunate as us.  Working with turtles would also be a dream come true, as this could potenially be what I want to do as a career.
