Kirtlington Village Hall Clean Energy Project

£10,327 of £14,000 goal

Raised by 41 people in 4 months
Sustainable Kirtlington is raising funds to install solar photo voltaic panels on our Village Hall's south-facing roof, backed up by a battery system to store the clean power that is generated.

This will benefit all users of Kirtlington Village Hall by reducing utility bills and eliminating harmful greenhouse gas emissions from our power supply.

We are also raising funds to install 2 electric vehicle charging points on the car park side of the hall.  This is in anticipation of more users of the hall shifting to electric vehicles and needing somewhere to charge.   The total project cost is £38,000.

We need funds within the next two months as we must complete the project before the Government's subsidies for solar PV Feed-in-Tariffs (FIT scheme) conclude in April 2019.

Your support will mean that we can complete the path to a fully sustainable community facility in Kirtlington that serves all our community groups.

Everyone who donates will be personally acknowledged and receive a dedication on the Village Hall Clean Energy Project noticeboard.

We are very grateful to Viridor Credits for grant funding of £20,000 and the Oxford Low Carbon Hub for grant funding of £5,000, which is allowing the project to go ahead with your vital support.

Fantastic news folks - the scaffolding is down and our new solar roof can be viewed in all it's glory as of this afternoon. Thanks again to all our amazing donors - we couldn't have done this without you. Next stage is to purchase the energy storage system (10kW battery) and install it, so we can store all that lovely clean energy from the sun. Look out for more updates and pics soon!

Dear All,
In case you haven't stepped around the back of the village hall recently, I have news.
Work has started on installing the PV array on the roof and should be finished on Friday. Picture of WIP attached:

Dear Donors,
Some very good news - we have just been informed that we were successful in our grant application to the Oxford Low Carbon Hub (LCH) for £5,000. We will apply this funding to the purchase of the battery storage system, which complements the solar PV array. LCH provided us with the initial £500 to undertake the feasibility study for the project, so it is great that they have come back to us with this very welcome and significant support. We are now just £5,000 short of our total project funding requirement. If you know of other generous folk in the village or further afield (including local businesses) that might be keen to donate, please let me know.
Best regards,
Robert.

Hi Folks,
Here is your Kirtlington Village Hall Clean Energy Transition Update
There is much to tell!
On 25th February we received our EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) for the Village Hall – this is a necessary precondition of the Feed-in-Tariff from the UK government for producing renewable energy via the solar panels on the roof. So, a key prerequisite for the project.
On 28th February we received the Certificate of Lawful Development from Cherwell District Council, confirming that the clean energy plans for Kirtlington Village Hall are lawful.
We are now in full mobilisation and have commissioned EnergyMyWay to start work on the installation.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far – we are about £10k off our target, so would be very grateful for further sponsorship. If you know of anyone that might be interested in supporting the project, please let them have the details in this link.
Best wishes,
Robert & Celia

How it Works
  1. You are donating to PayPal Giving Fund UK, a registered charity (No. 1110538), which will email you a receipt for your donation and claim Gift Aid where eligible.
  2. GoFundMe’s platform is free. The charity will typically receive the funds from PayPal Giving Fund within 15-45 days of your donation if the charity has enrolled (or 90 days if the charity has not yet enrolled). Unlike other platforms, 100% of any Gift Aid will go to the charity as well.
* In very limited cases, a recommended charity may cease to meet PayPal Giving Fund's legal or other eligibility requirements. In such cases, PayPal Giving Fund will reassign the funds to a similar charity, and (wherever possible) seek a new recommendation from donors.
