Let's Help Yma Raise Money

I'm Margarita from Philadelphia, PA. My boyfriend Cliff and I rescued an adorable feral kitten from the yard of my mother's home in Neptune, NJ on the 4th of June. She was being neglected by the other cats and we could tell she was in bad health due to her eye being swollen shut. We wanted to help her, so we took her to the SPCA of Monmouth County sadly to get turned down because we wanted to keep her and not surrender her. Our next stop was Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital (NJ), there we found out our kitten was a girl and had an ulcer in her left eye. We were pescribed many medications to help her out. While we waited for her, I decided to name her Yma, after Yma Sumac the lovely opera singer from Peru. We were told to follow up on her ulcer in a few days and give her medications accordingly. Our next step was the VCA Cat Hospital here in Rittenhouse. I was told to immediately take Yma to the ER at Penn because her ulcer had ruptured and it is possible that she can lose her eye. I was in shock, I had no idea the extremity of the situation. I thought she was doing better due to her playing and being happy. We are now in debt over $1,000 for this beautiful little kitten that we want to help save. We have two other cats at home who won't be able to meet their new sister until she is all better. This money will go to cover some of Yma's hospital visits, medications, and possible future surgery. Despite some backlash for helping a feral cat, we could care less! Yma is now part of our family and we want her to feel happy and healthy no matter what it takes. I love her to bits.
