Where We Started

We started this project with a dream, a lot of broken equipment and a whole lot of hope.  We had two playgrounds in massive need of replacement and lots of broken structures around the park.  Every inch of metal was rusted and nails were sticking out.  Something needed to change.

Where We Are Now

WOW! We have won 7 grants for this project! We have received lots of community donations as well for a grand total of $149,000 raised! This has been enough money to replace the pre-school structure and purchase equipment for the upper age structure.  We've been raising money for lots of other upgrades too--like infrared security cameras to protect this new investment from vandalism! We plan to start building the second playground on March 21st. Sign up to volunteer to help build at the bottom of this page!

We're in the news too!

Here's what we are building  March 21-25, 2016!

Additionally: drinking fountain, hop scotch boards, BBQ grill, benches.

ADA Drinking Fountain: our new drinking fountain is vandal resistant and will stand the test of time.  It will also have a child height spout and a dog dish! ADA Upgrades: The park will be wheelchair accessable for children and families! This is necessary and required by law.  We will have better access points all around the park!

Surfacing Materials and Construction Supervision: We will put safe bark chips under the equipment to catch kids when they fall.

Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy project! We are giving the children of Reedsport a safe and fun place to play, learn and grow! We've got BIG dreams for this park and you can be a part of it!

Supporters! I just wanted to give you an update on the rebuilding process.

1. The rebuilding of Lions Park is COMPLETE. If you're in Reedsport, be sure to stop by and play at the park! You can also post your pictures on the "rebuild lions park" page. We'd love to hear how the new park is impacting your family or children!

2. We're using remaining funds to add a Frisbee Golf Course to Bicentennial Park in Reedsport this July 6-9. If you're in town, feel free to drop in and help us install some state of the art equipment. And once the park is complete, bring your friends and neighbors out for a competitive game of Frisbee Golf along the beautiful one mile trail. The city has been working to improve this park for the last couple years and we know you'll love this addition as well!

The renovation is complete! Thank you all for coming along side us, volunteering with us, donating to us, and making something awesome happy for the children and families of Reedsport! I'm receiving photos left and right of happy children enjoying the new park! My vision of a gathering place for the community has come to fruition.

Keep an eye out for some finishing touches in the coming weeks--new drinking fountain, hop scotch boards featuring the names of all our donors, and a new lion mural!

Thank you for supporting a big kid from Reedsport with a huge dream!
