Limes After School Program

Hello!! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Lindsay Morse. I am currently living in the small Caribbean country of Grenada while my fiance is in medical school at St. George's University. While here, myself and Stephanie Mazzola (also here with her fiancé) are coordinators for the Limes After School Program.
The Limes After School program was started by Ann Hopkins in 2003, who aimed to reach less-privileged children in the local area. Since then, the Significant Other Organization has fully taken over the Limes After School Program. Our mission is to help further the children’s education, to encourage their development of self-worth, and to provide them with love and attention. Together, the volunteers strive to create a safe zone for the children in the area, whom are often struggling in poverty and lacking support in their own homes. These children have stolen our hearts and we are positive they would steal yours too!
The Limes After School program is held two times per week on Tuesday and Wednesday. During this time, we assist local children with academics, encourage them to participate in a craft or game, and provide them with snacks and juice. Each child in attendance receives 1/6 of a sandwich, a small cup of juice, one apple slice, and a saltine cracker. Many of the children ask for more than what is given, but unfortunately limited funds have not allowed us to do so. In addition, it is known that for some of the children, this is the only meal they receive for the day. With that being said, the Limes After School Program would benefit tremendously from your help!
All funds raised will be donated directly the Limes After School Program covering the costs of additional food for the children, re-doing our shed that we keep supplies in (it is currently falling apart and is a hazard for the children-to see pictures scroll down!!), clothes/shoes (many have clothes that do not fit properly as well as children without shoes), and our Limes Children Health Fund. The Limes Children Health Fund is used for children in the area who cannot afford health care for everyday check ups as well as aiding those with major health issues. For those with major health problems, this covers their flights to and from other countries to receive the proper medical care that cannot be found in Grenada.

Here are pictures of what are shed that we keep our everyday supplies in looks like - aka why we need funding to fix it!! You will be able to see pieces of concrete that are falling from the ceiling, as well as a lot of water damage from leaks.
