LGBTQ Youth Homelessness Support

40% of youth experiencing homelessness identify as LGBTQ.  In our community, there are youth who are discarded, marginalized and abused emotionally and physically by their parents and caregivers for simply being who they are.  Sometimes these youth are told they are no longer welcome in their home.  Sometimes they are just afraid to go home.  Sometimes they go years silently enduring a painful reality at home that most of us cannot even fathom.

This fund will be used to directly support homeless LGBTQ youth in our community with legal costs to ensure they are taken care of with guardianship, advocacy, clothing, bus passes, food or any additional needs.

It is not always apparent who these youth are because in our community they are often couch surfing with friends' families or suffering silently or running away from home because they do not have adults in their lives who will nurture and support them.
