The only LGBTI+ shelter in the state of Sergipe (Brazil) needs your help to continue working.
CASAMOR [House of Love, in Portuguese] is a shelter for LGBTI+ people who were kicked out of their own homes for the simple fact of being who they are. This is the only organization of its kind in Sergipe, a state of more than 2 million inhabitants in Brazil.
CASAMOR receives no help from the government and is the initiative of a group of volunteers who know the pain, prejudice and violence that LGBTI+ people suffer in a country that has one of the highest LGBT reported mortality rates in the world.
CASAMOR provides shelter up to three months to people who were kicked out of their houses. They also give free classes to encourage transgenders to take entrance exams for universities and colleges. The main goal is to help them regain the control of their lives and empower themselves.
CASAMOR has got to go under reconstruction in order to match the requirements of the Fire Department and this is a costly endeavor. That is why hundreds of people are gathering to raise funds to help this unique place to keep working and changing people's lives in so many ways.
After all, love is a human right.
