Lewisville Soup

Soup is a very simple concept with community and ideas at it's core. It's democratically driven micro-funding for the community. This is not a new concept, it's something I've taken from an organization called Detroit Soup and just applied the concept to the city of Lewisville (with lots of help from Detroit Soup and also our local city council). I heard about Detroit Soup at an art teacher conference but the complexity and cost of renting a facility really stopped me in my tracks. 
This video does a very good job of covering the concept of Detroit Soup and it's core beliefs I believe I will bring to the dinners that are coming to Lewisville Soup. 

I soft pitched the soup concept casually to a council member and here we are a short time later, actually pulling this dinner off April 12th! This go fund me is created to cover some of the smaller things that I can't seem to get donated. I'm thankful that so many businesses and city members have come in to assist in this night. 

Quite simply 3-4 people are selected to present or "pitch" ideas to a group of people whom all donated $10 to come to the event. At the end of the night the community/dinner attendees vote on which idea they would like to see funded.  At the end of the night the full amount of donated money is handed over to the majority vote winner in hopes to see the concept flushed out.

I've been able to get sponsorship for the rental of the house, soup and salad but I'm writing this up in hopes to get the basics covered for this dinner so I don't need to spend out of my own pocket. The costs and needs are small.
