My name is David Heise. I'm a full time stay at home parent, and a part time musician. I have done many things to make ends meet in my marriage, from previoulsy working past 80 hours a week and commuting on top of that, to driving for uber over an hour and a half away and sleeping overnight in my car.
My wife and I decided to move to Midland Michigan fom the Chicago area in 2012 for her pastorate at First Baptist Church. Since then I have lived and breathed my children. I have cared for them, fed them, changed their diapers and potty trained one of them. In 2015 the birth of our second child meant that I was caring for a newborn in excess of 50 hours a week, as well as our 5 year old.
Now, my beloved wife is filing for divorce. She has cut me off financially. I am left without a significant income and no way to pay the upfront $2000 retainer and ongoing legal fees of my attourney. Beyond that I have no way to continue to live on my small income. To add insult to injury, Lara has decided to not let me see the children. I have to follow a legal process to gain joint custody, for which I need legal counsel. I am looking for local employment. I can't go back to Illinois to live with family if I am going to share custody. I need help to retain my parental rights.
