Remi’s Story
Remigio Elizondo, affectionately known as “Remi,” is one of the most kind-hearted, warm, gentle men you will ever know. Quick to smile as well as lend a hand, he is loyal and committed through and through. Many who knew him as a student and athlete from Lane Tech High School know this to be true.
As a professional, Remi is a healer, skilled in many modalities. His treatments and ability to use massage therapy, reflexology, applied kinesiology, osteopathy, neuromuscular, cranial sacral, acupressure, Qigong, nutritional balancing, Chinese medicine and homeopathy treatments have healed those experiencing such a level of pain, they no longer wanted to live. A patient arrives in a wheelchair without able to bend their legs yet departs able to be seated unassisted. Another patient seeks Remi out, arriving with a heel the size of a watermelon. Two treatments later, they are healed and able to once again wear gym shoes.
As a man committed to his family, Remi choose to live in Texas in order to be close to his many, extended family members in Mexico, easily visiting often, caring and healing them as well. And care for them he did. He cared for his paternal grandmother as well as his paternal great aunt and uncle until their passing. Even though living in abject poverty, they died being cared for by family, Remi.
Fast forward decades later and Remi is at the tail end of a situation which no one even wishes to imagine. His own nuclear family struggles led to his becoming a single dad while himself gravely, life threateningly ill. Legal circumstances prevented him from being able to establish himself permanently, fully back in the states with his son. Back and forth, back and forth. No matter, family first, raising his son, healing others.
Health restored, legal issues in the home stretch, it’s now time for Remi to return fully, completely, permanently home. No more back and forth. With his son and healthier self to continue healing others, Remi is ready to move beyond past struggles and ready to THRIVE!!!
When we knew Remi back at LTHS he had “permanent resident” status. In order to bring his son Lu back with him, his citizenship application (which has been lost multiple times by the INS) must be completed. This means immigration lawyers. Add to this the cost of transportation, housing, etc., and the costs skyrocket. This GoFundMe will create an opportunity for Remi and his son to establish their home, begin the steps towards establishing his own healing practice and to assist his son with college expenses. Yes, college!!! While it’s been a long, difficult journey, Remi and his son are reservedly excited about their future. (Anyone who personally knows Remi, will smile at the “reservedly” part as he still remains humble and mild-mannered just as he was as a teen!)
Let’s show Remi (and his son), that FAMILY, indeed does come first and just as it has for Remi, it extends beyond blood relations. We are all family, connected to each other by a multitude of factors: shared experiences, struggles, dreams and achievements. Remi’s life and healing gift has touched the lives of many. As a Spiritual man, Remi firmly believes in the power of prayer and welcomes prayer support to guide this next phase of his life’s journey.
