Plan My Gap Year - Bali Wildlife Rescue website
From July to August 2019 I will be travelling by myself to Bali, Indonesia, to take part in a wildlife rescue volunteering program, looking after animals that were victims to poachers and trafficking. The primates and birds looked after have been rescued from markets, private homes and businesses where they were kept as pets or for entertainment purposes. There are currently over 40 endangered primates and birds including Javan Lutung, Southern Pig-tailed Macague, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Southern Cassowary, Palm Cockatoo and more.
I'm doing this to gain confidence and experience things that I would never experience just by staying in my comfort zone at home in England. I've been dying for adventure my whole life, and it's so easy just to turn down an opportunity like this because it may seem intimidating and scary, but I'm striving to make the most of my life and live to the best of my ability. Not only would this be an adventure of a lifetime, but I will have the amazing opportunity to help the animals and wildlife, making a difference in the world.
The funds I am raising will go towards the program fee, my flights, and 2 weekend trips whilst I am out there. The weekend trips include the Gili Islands and the town of Ubud, where we will climb Mount Batur to watch sunrise.
I am putting a chunk of my work earnings towards this trip, but as I don't earn enough to fund the whole trip, I will be working very hard to earn every penny. I need to pay 60 days before the trip, so some point in May.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, as every penny counts!
Thank you,
Leo
