Support for The Lending Room

We are thrilled to announce that The Lending Room, an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit, has found a site for our new home that will enable us to continue serving the community as we’ve done since 1961.  Dedicated volunteers collect and redistribute durable medical equipment (such as wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commodes, shower chairs, crutches, canes, etc.) to anyone in need, regardless of income or insurance. 

Our budget is very small.  In 2017 our total income -- $2,200 – was solely from donations, primarily from those who used our services, but also from some admirers.  We’ve also received a few small grants in previous years [of $750 - $1,500].  We get a lot of ‘bang’ for those bucks; between 2012 and 2017, we loaned out 2,197 items to 1,470 individuals.  

A recent gift from Beaufort’s 100 Women Who Care moved us closer to our goal for sufficient funds to build our new home, but we need additional funding for permit fees, building materials, site prep, and initial hook up of utilities.
