Legal fees for Legs

As some of you know, I've been in a relationship involving incidents of domestic abuse for the last few years. After the last occurrence I took the advice I'd been getting since it started and finally left, back to Milwaukee and with a temporary restraining order against my sons mother with both criminal and family cases open in Columbia County. I've been representing myself in these matters up to this point, but truth be told I'm not a lawyer and have very little idea of how either criminal or family court works. I'm very thankful for the help and advice I've gotten up to now, but unfortunately I'm realizing I'm swinging out of my league and need the help of a professional to represent me while I pursue action to maintain the current temporary restraining order, and a more fair 50/50 placement with our son, or more if possible. I currently only have placement on weekends and not much help from his mother's end. I've spoken with an attorney who has offered to take my case at a very reduced rate here in Milwaukee, but as you can imagine even a very reduced rate isn't cheap, especially since I wasn't allowed much time to vacate our home or line up work here ahead of time. The attorney so far is willing to take the case for a $1500 retainer fee up front if I'm able to come up with it before our meeting Monday morning (4/15). If I can find someone willing to loan me the money to secure representation, any funds raised from this will go toward paying them back first, and everything after that will go toward covering the hourly fees for the firm, filing fees, and cost of transportation for court dates in the future.
