Lee Family Hurricane Matthew Relief

$3,145 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 36 people in 21 months
As you know, South Carolina was devastated by flood waters from Hurricane Matthew. Specifically, my home town is completely underwater and people are in dire need of help. My grandmother, mother, father, sister, and uncle each lost their homes, cars, and all of their worldly possessions in this flood. They were awakened on the morning of October 10th, by the pounding of the national guard on the front door telling them they had to leave immediately. The water was so high they were airlifted out of the flood waters by helicopter. They are in a complete state of shock, confusion and devastation by all they have experienced. My dad is a retired Vietnam veteran. My paternal grandmother works as a registered nurse and was looking forward to retirement in their family home. Unfortunately, my family does not have flood insurance to cover their homes and all they have lost.

My heart breaks for them. At times like these, we all need to pick each other up when we can. They are at the beginning of a very difficult and LONG journey as we begin the steps to recovery. Please consider giving anything you can to help us.

All proceeds will be used to defray the costs associated with our storm recovery efforts.

Humbly yours,
Bro. Thomas E. Lee, Jr.

Some residents have “...no idea where they’re going to go, what they’re going to do, or when they’re going to get to do it...”. Worse yet, “not knowing how we’re going to fix this small town...".

Just a few of the obstacles Nichols' residents have yet to overcome according to the article: power restoration, mold remediation, and the condemnation of property.
